Once there was a king called Midas. In spite of having vast wealth, he was extremely fond of gold. Always he thought of getting vast gold. He wanted more and more. He thought if he had the golden touch, he would be the happiest king in the world. One day, a wise god granted his wish promptly. That afternoon, sitting under an apple tree in his garden, he was thinking again of getting the golden touch. Suddenly a ripe apple fell beside him. He picked it up and surprisingly noticed that the apple turned into gold instant. He became wondered and could realize that god had gifted him the golden touch. His joys knew no bound. He was overwhelmed with joy. Then whatever he touched, everything turned into gold. He returned his palace with a great pleasant mind. At that time his sweet little daughter came running to him and he took her in his arms. But alas! At once, she turned into gold. The king was at his wit’s end. He turned pale. His heart sank with unbearable pain and grief. He cried out in anguish. He understood his mistake and prayed to god. The wise god felt pity on him and took the golden touch away from him. The sweet little girl became human again.
