Science and technology are powerful tools of the present age. With the help of science and technology, human civilization is going ahead very fast. Bangladesh is trying to keep pace in this regard.
A satellite is a machinery body place in a planet’s orbit for communication or information collection. Launching Bangabandhu satellite-1 in space is certainly a great success for Bangladesh. Also, the Bangabandhu satellite is a geostationary communication satellite. The satellite has been named after the father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. It was designed and manufactured by Thales Alenia Space and its launch provider was SpaceX on 11 May 2015. Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission(BTRC) implanted the project. Its launch station was Kennedy Space Center on Merritt Island, Florid, the USA, and the ground control stations are the Bethbunia and Gazipur in Bangladesh. With a total mass of 3700kg and powered by two deployable solar arrays and a battery, the expected longevity of the satellite fifteen years. Currently, TV channels of Bangladesh are using other countries’ bandwidth such as China, India, Singapore, and it is costing near about 4 million per year. It expected that Bangladesh not only such an amount of money in the future but also would earn a lot of letting other countries lease the other countries unused bandwidths. Above all, Bangabandhu Satellite-1 is an enormous achievement in the field of science and technology.
