Introduction
A village market is a place where the villagers meet to buy and sell things. It is a buying and selling center for the villagers. Generally, it sits every morning. Besides, big markets sit once or twice a week.
Where sits
A village market generally stands at a place where people can easily come for buying and selling things. So it usually stands at the junction of roads or by the side of a river or a canal. Large banyan trees are left to grow to give shade and shelter.
Kinds of the village market
There are two kinds of village markets. They are a daily market and a weekly market. The daily market is called “Bazar’. In different part of Bangladesh , it is also called ‘Aarong’. It sits daily in the morning. The weekly market is called ‘hat’. It sits once or twice a week in the evening.
Parts of a village market
A village market has three parts open space, temporary shed, and permanent shed. In the open space, the sellers sit in rows. Fish, milk, fruits, betel leaves, vegetables, etc. are sold here. In the temporary sheds oil, rice, salt, pepper, etc. are sold. Grocers, tailors, doctors, and some others sit in the permanent shed.
Advantages
The village market is very useful to the villagers. Here they get all things for their daily use. It saves the villagers from going to distant places to buy things. It is the meeting place of the villagers. The villagers find a social and friendly life here.
